BlindGuide has recently released a major update for its KLIC app. The new update makes it possible, among other things, to view KLIC and other geosptial data in Augmented Reality and to communicate (mail of phone) directly to the KLIC desks of network operators of the app by clicking on contact information.
Update for BlindGuide with new features
The App updates from BlindGuide are the result of: qualitative user feedback, quantitative data and the knowledge of the market. BlindGuide continues to issue regular updates for the Dutch KLIC app and International AR Maps app. Many users have been looking forward to these new features for months. Especially the ability to view KLIC in Augmented reality and quickly see which line is what was much anitipated as shown in video below.
Roadmap
The following functional updates are on the roadmap at BlindGuide:
- New in-app browser for easy search and selection of KLIC files;
- Loading multiple maps such as BGT, Google Maps as a baselayer under the utilities;
- Measure-tool for measuring distance in Augmented Reality;
- Link between ETL Tool and KLIC app for making KLIC files available more quickly;
- Report KLIC via BlindGuide ETL Portal;
- Making data available for:
- Suspicious areas (UXO)
- Soil quality
- Soil subsidence
In addition, we hope to be able to start the pilot for the simplification of “reporting a different location” at the end of 2019
Update for security reasons
In addition, we also regularly release updates that you as users do not notice very much, but were created because of an important OS update or to ensure that we keep the app stable.
For Android, most devices nowadays are on Android version 9 and the latest version for Apple iPhone and iPad users is iOS version 12.3
OS Updates
OS updates for security are by far the most important. In a complex operating system such as Android or iOS, new security holes or weaknesses are regularly discovered.
The security updates fill these gaps so that they cannot be exploited by hackers or malware. At BlindGuide we also release updates for the KLIC app that belong to a newer and more secure OS version. Performing these updates is therefore crucial because they promote the safety of your Smartphone or Tablet.
No automatic updates
Unfortunately, we see in our statistics that a substantial part of our users has disabled automatic app updates. 5% of the active devices that have installed our app since March 2018 are still on the version from before 7 May 2019.
We would be sorry if these users could not make maximum use of the new functions or, in the worst case, have a less secure mobile or tablet due to not updating your Apps to a newer and safer version in time. That is why we advise everyone to regularly check whether there are updates for your OS or apps.
